And though he once remarked that "emotions are standard and boring," he's also the first to admit that there is feeling behind Interpol's music. "There has to be some kind of heart behind it, or it just wouldn't be worth doing. So yeah, in my mind, there's a warmth, there's a lot about love, there is emotion in the music."

So Interpol are not true postmodernists? "I guess not. I'm not even sure what the definition of a true postmodernist is. But it's fun to play the part, you know?"
